If you had to pick one thing to do forever for free, what would it be? For me, that thing would be creating music. I always knew that music would be a major part of my life. From playing instruments in band to being my high school drum captain to now performing my own creations.
I was born in Los Angeles, CA and lived in SoCal until I was 14. I then lived in Lafayette, LA for 6 years and that period of my life played a major role inspiring my music. When I was a kid I remember having Warren G “Regulate” on repeat and singing Usher in the shower. I wrote my first song in 2009 while living in LA and ever since that first song, I have a consistent itch to create new material. After that I lived in Dallas, TX for 4 years and started generating a fan base. In 2011 I flew to New York to meet with an A&R at Def Jam Records hoping to get signed. That wasn’t the case and I left at a standstill not knowing what else to do. I felt like I had done everything in my power and I didn’t know how to move forward.
Then I changed my mind state. For all the things I felt like I couldn’t do myself, I started figuring out how to make it happen on my own. So even when it felt like I’d never make it, I just kept going. That’s where I learned that it comes from my hard work and dedication and I separated myself from everyone else in the pack. I realized the value of doing the work myself, like web admin work, booking my own shows, funding, and getting myself onto platforms others think aren’t possible. I’m making it happen myself.
One of the things I love most about writing music is being able to influence and entertain people. I’m not a fan of just one genre of music. I listen to everything, which is why the music I create is so diverse without even trying. When people ask what to compare me to as an artist, I tell them I have my own sound. Of course I am still inspired by a lot of the greatest artists. There was never a doubt in my mind that I’d make it to where I’m at now. Once my fan base started growing and the demand for new material and performances increased, that added a lot more fuel to the fire and made me work harder than I ever thought I would. It’s gotten to the point where I started generating revenue and I now put everything back into my business.
When I moved back to CA 4 years ago, I started performing on a more regular basis. Performing has always been one of the things I love to do the most. I want to give the most to my fans, who are positive, intelligent people who like to have a good time. Hence my motto, CLPL (crazy life positive life).
One of my biggest goals is to have my single holding down the number one spot on the billboard chart. At this point in my career the foundation is built, I’m branded as an artist and all I have to do is focus and keep growing.
