Americana rocker Jameson Elder‘s new record has a story behind the brand-new tune that will melt your heart. You should definitely take a listen to the new Jameson Elder Fine Wine song. Fine Wine will make you fall in love with country music all over again!
Elder, a native of and based in Nashville, has a whole lot to offer: His recording of Fine Wine is unhurried and simple, but the lyrics reveal a complex combination of yearning, hope, awe and sincerity from the singer. His vocal performance is gentle yet passionate, and listeners may just fall in love with him after just one listen.
“She’s a fine wine / The purest kind / The kind you taste once in your life / Well, she grew up strong / And she grew up right / I’d be a fool to watch her leave / So hold on, boy / You’re playing for keeps,” Elder sings in the chorus.
Listeners may be surprised to know that Elder wrote Fine Wine about a girl he hadn’t yet met.
“[She was] a girl I hoped I would find. A girl who, more than anything else, could understand me, who could look past the dirt and the scratches and find the gold on the inside,” Elder tells The Boot. “At the time, she seemed so far out of reach. Funny thing is, a month after I wrote this song, I found her.”
In Fine Wine, Elder describes this girl as someone who has the ability to stir up the most honest and vulnerable parts of him. Metaphorically, the lyrics tie into a bottle of fine wine without being cliche or trite.
Fine Wine is from Elder’s forthcoming full-length record, Prodigals & Thieves, which the artist wrote and co-produced. The album’s theme, birthed from the story of the Prodigal Son, has its fingerprints all over every track: “Not Ready” and “Your Time Is Coming Soon” are full of denial and apathy, while the final song, “In My Mother’s Arms,” speaks of the reunion of a son to his family.
Prodigals & Thieves is set for release on Feb. 26 and is available for pre-order now. More information on Elder, including upcoming shows, is available on JamesonElder.com.
