New music video The Ellas Bakin Cookies
Hit songwriters Jennifer Denmark, Melissa Fuller and Emily James make up the trio The Ellas. Now The Ellas Bakin Cookies official music video has premiered as their latest single.
The Bakin Cookies music video is as sweet as it sounds: The three women, in ’50s-style hairdos and festive outfits, are joined in the kitchen by several excited children, and throughout the clip, the group mixes up the ingredients, bakes the cookies and, of course, decorates them with sprinkles and icing. If you haven’t had the urge to start your holiday baking, this video might make you feel it.
Bakin Cookies is light, fun and extremely relatable — a concept that the Ellas were shooting for.
“Our biggest goal for this album was to write Christmas songs that people can relate to,” says founding Ellas member Denmark. “Nobody actually roasts chestnuts on an open fire anymore. They always say to write what you know. So we tried to hit home with our favorite holiday traditions: sending greeting cards, baking Christmas cookies, kids waiting up to try to catch a peek at Santa.”
Bakin Cookies comes off of the Ellas’ 15-track debut record, Merry & Bright, which was released on Nov. 6 via Scat Pack Records. Their Big Band sound and three-part harmonies are infectious and reminiscent of the Andrews Sisters, Ella Fitzgerald and Rosemary Clooney.
“Merry & Bright is modern Christmas set to timeless melodies that make you feel like you’ve heard these songs your whole life,” explains Denmark.
Originally named the North Pole Patrol, the Ellas came together after Denmark began penning Christmas songs. Her love of the holidays and the desire to write and record additional songs led her to form the the Ellas. Between the three of them, Denmark, James and Fuller have written songs for artists including Kelsea Ballerini, Florida Georgia Line, Hunter Hayes, Reba McEntire, Cassadee Pope, Sara Evans, Katie Armiger and Ella Mae Bowen, and they hope to release and record some non-holiday music of their own in the future.
The trio will made their Grand Ole Opry debut on Friday (Nov. 27). Merry & Bright can be purchased on Amazon and iTunes.
